Judge Dismisses Claims of Copyright Infringment Against Veoh
Judge Howard R. Lloyd Federal Northern California ruled that video-sharing service Veoh Networks Inc. is not liable for copyright infringement for material that was uploaded to its Web site. The Judge dismissed the case that was filed in 2006.
The lawsuit was mainly determined based on Veoh’s attention to the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) safe harbors. Veoh was compliant to DMCA takedown notices, VEOH also notified users of its policies against copyright infringement and VEOH registered a Copyright Agent with the Copyright Office. Veoh’s actions had revealed that Veoh responding to copyright infringement notices.”
